SANTA BARBARA, California — November 4, 2026. Three separate Santa Barbara City Council districts have clear leaders in the county’s final unofficial election-night bulletin.

Official overnight figures

District 4: Devon Wardlow 2,617 (51.12%), Monte Wilson 1,300, Genevieve Taft-Vazquez 737 and Jason Paul Dominguez 458. District 5: Ian J. Baucke 2,523 (62.23%), Cevin Cathell 1,088 and James Zurlinden 419. District 6: Gabe Escobedo 1,842 (68.30%), Jason Carlton 332, Alexander Stoeber 316 and Anabella Lehne 194.

Why this local election matters

Voters in each district choose only their own representative. These council contests should not be conflated with the competitive citywide mayoral race. Reporting all precincts does not mean every valid ballot has been counted or the contests have been certified.

Result status

The Santa Barbara County Elections report is labeled “Election Night — Final Update Unofficial Results.” It represents the last election-night report available at this article’s source cutoff, not certified results. Although all relevant precincts were listed as reported, additional eligible ballots can still be processed during the canvass.
