SANTA BARBARA, Santa Barbara County — November 4, 2026. Santa Barbara Community College District’s Trustee Areas 5 and 7 have distinct leading candidates.

Preliminary candidate totals

In Area 5, Dominique Luján holds 4,942 votes (74.73%), ahead of E. Howard Green with 1,642. In Area 7, Andrea Varon has 3,417 (48.05%), Oscar Zavala 2,115 and Heather McGinnis 1,556.

How to interpret the contest

These are governance elections for the community college district, not city council seats. Each trustee area votes independently. Reporting all election-night precincts does not equal a certified final canvass.

Not yet certified

The reporting cutoff is the Santa Barbara County Elections “Election Night — Final Update Unofficial Results” for November 3, 2026. That designation means the final election-night bulletin, not the certified vote. Even though the report lists all assigned precincts, eligible ballots can remain to be counted during the official canvass. County certification, not an interim article, confirms the winners.
