SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — October 31, 2026. Local nonprofit organizations serving lower-income Santa Barbara residents can prepare to apply for a combined approximately $852,000 in Human Services and Community Development Block Grant funding.
In an October 30 city announcement, officials said applications for the city’s fiscal 2028 and 2029 programs will open online on November 6, 2026. Complete applications must be submitted by December 10 at 4:30 p.m., with no exceptions announced.
A required workshop comes first
The city scheduled a mandatory virtual application workshop for November 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. Staff involved in preparing grant submissions must attend; prospective organizations should register through the city’s official grants page.
The funding is aimed at eligible organizations that provide public services and benefit low- and moderate-income residents of the City of Santa Barbara. This is not an unrestricted individual cash benefit and does not guarantee every nonprofit will qualify.
What applicants should check
Applicants should review eligibility, service geography, required documentation and how each program defines eligible activities. The city warns that incomplete applications will not be accepted and that submitting an application does not guarantee an award.
For official requirements contact Community Grants Program staff at 805-564-5512 or consult the city funding announcement.
